Our Evening Rally Services will feature Dan LeRoy

Daniel Eugene LeRoy is a son of The Wesleyan Church, in the middle of three generations of Wesleyan pastors — with more to come, hopefully!

He has served as a pastor, a church planter, and a District Superintendent. He is an author, has served as an adjunct faculty member of John Wesley University, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Southern Wesleyan University. He served for four terms on the General Board of The Wesleyan Church.

Pastor Dan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Literature from Kernersville Wesleyan College in 1971, and a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1975.

Among his publications are:

  • Rediscovering Our Holiness Heritage: How The Wesleyan Church Can Get Back What We Gave Away (2018)

  • Reclaiming Our Holiness Heritage:  The Battle for the Heart, Soul, Mind and Future of The Wesleyan Church (2021)

  • Redefining Our Holiness Heritage: Renewing Our Minds, Refreshing Our Language (2024)

  • Reimagining Our Holiness Heritage: A Path Forward (with Matthew W. LeRoy) (2023)

He has been honored to be named a Trustee Emeritus by Southern Wesleyan University in 2016, named a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by the State of North Carolina in 2016, and to receive the Professional Excellence Award for the School of Religion and Humanities of Southern Wesleyan University in 2023.

Dan and Cynthia have been married for fifty-three years, and are the proud parents of three sons — Kris, Matthew and Josh — and are blessed with nine of the world’s greatest grandchildren ever. “Family” is a big deal to the LeRoys.

When asked what he is doing now that he is retired, Pastor Dan says that he is aggravating young preachers (they used to pay him to do that as a DS, but now he does it for free). He challenges them to be the generation that brings holiness back to the heart of The Wesleyan Church.
